Career Development

  • We encourage staff at all levels to develop their skills, knowledge and qualifications through attendance at seminars, college courses, and through in-house training initiatives.
  • Hills run a structured training plan approved by the RICS with the aim of ensuring trainees achieve Chartered status.  The training is carried out in conjunction with l ocal Further Education Colleges for day release courses a nd The College of Estate Management in Reading for distance learning courses. A number of Hills' staff including one current Director have attended RICS accredited courses at The College of Estate Management.
  • Under the guidance of an assigned training supervisor, trainees can achieve chartered status in anything from three to seven years depending on their age and level of qualification when joining the company and commencing their training.
  • Graduates in other fields can effectively change career path by undertaking the post-graduate diploma in surveying at the College of Estate Management.
  • Senior staff are encouraged to continue with their professional development and recent training undertaken includes Party Wall, Adjudication, Project Management, CDM Regulations, and Project Partnering .
  • Having identified the training needs, Hills provide full funding for the chosen course.
  • Through our IIP accredited staff development reviews, the need for Continuing Professional Development is reviewed and implemented.
  • As has been proved in some cases, opportunities exist for trainees to progress to senior roles within Hills.
