EXAM SUCCESS FOR NICK COX

Our congratulations go to Nick Cox who has passed his APC to become a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).

Nick, who is based in our Exeter office, joined Hills in 2005 as an assistant quantity surveyor having previously gained a BA Business Management degree. Whilst working for Hills he has gained a huge amount of experience in pre-contract works, preparation of measured take-offs, cost management budgets, programming, post contract valuations and cost reporting.

Nick has provided assistance for the externalisation process in Devon Property Services and Torbay Council Crematorium.

Having gained the qualification PRINCE 2 Foundation level in 2008, Nick is continuing his studies in order to gain the Practitioner qualification.

Currently Nick is project managing two exciting new developments at Bridgwater College, the Energy Skills Centre and the Performing Arts Centre.

FROM CORNWALL TO SCOTLAND

Edwin Bryant Associates, the Cornwall arm of Hills, has recently taken on a project to build a new crematorium in West Lothian for the Westerleigh Group.

The single storey stone and render crematorium is to be built on a new site in a cleared area of forest. The project includes improvement works and links to the highway. The 380sqm (4090sqft) building will include the chapel and cremator as well as offices, book of rememberance room and floral tribute canopy. The programme is tight as the crematorium needs to be in full working order in early 2010.

Edwin Bryant Associates secured the work via the architect, PDP Green Consulting of Camborne, who has a long working relationship with the Westerleigh Group.
